As the name implies, the textile thermal resistance tester measures the ability of textiles to impede heat transfer, that is, the thermal resistance value, by simulating the heat exchange process between the human body and the environment. Its basic principle is based on the three fundamental modes of heat transfer in thermodynamics: conduction, convection, and radiation. By controlling a certain temperature difference and air velocity conditions, the temperature changes on both sides of the sample are measured, and then the thermal resistance value of the textile is calculated.
Specifically, the tester usually includes a constant-temperature heat source (simulating human body temperature), a cooling plate (simulating the external environment), and the textile sample to be tested clamped between them. During the test, the heat source releases heat, and part of the heat is conducted to the cooling plate through the textile. At the same time, affected by air flow (simulating natural wind or wind generated by human activity), a complex heat exchange process is formed. By monitoring and recording the temperature changes during this process with high-precision sensors and combining specific algorithms, the thermal resistance value of the textile can be calculated.
